This hot chocolate doesn't faff about! For ten or eleven months of the year, I have absolutely no interest in hot chocolate. Let alone making it from scratch. But winter is the time for going a bit OTT and adding another 1000 calories to the pile so why the hell not. Forget the watery service station stuff. This is super rich and definitely something to savour with a film or after a cold walk - all of those cliches - REEL THEM IN BABY. It's a mug of the good stuff.
Sea salt hot chocolate
Top tip: Add a splash of brandy or Cointreau for a wonderfully festive nightcap
300ml vegan milk
300ml vegan cream
200g high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon sea salt, plus more for topping
1. Add the milk and cream in a saucepan over a medium heat and cook until it begins to simmer.
2. Take off the heat and stir in the chocolate, sugar, vanilla and salt, until the chocolate is fully melted.
3. Pour into mugs and finish with a final sprinkle of sea salt.
